My name is Karen Ziemkowski. I am a photojournalistic style photographer based out of the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area and serving South Florida and all of the United States!

I am a Florida native! I began my college education at the University of Central Florida, where I was involved in various media outlets, ranging from working as program director and DJ at KnightCast, the student radio network, production assistant at PBS, and being a writer and photojournalist for the UCF Independent Journal. I moved to Gainesville with my husband Adrian, where I graduated from the University of Florida in 2004, earning my Bachelor of Science from the College of Journalism & Communications.

I have been taking pictures as long as I can remember. As a child, I had the opportunity to travel all over the world with my parents, learning about photography from my dad, a former Army combat photographer. Cameras were always put in my hands and I was taught early on about "the proper way to take a picture."

My interest in photography deepened in high school, and my little Olympus went with me on every possible adventure. I became even more serious about photography in college, when my grandmother gave me my first Single Lens Reflex camera, a 30 year old MInolta XD-11. I practiced with it as much as I could, setting up portrait sessions in my dorm building with friends and neighbors.

At the end of my sophomore year of college, I met my husband, Adrian, who was also a photographer. Ironically, I met him because I had commissioned him to take some portraits of me! We immediately hit it off, brought together by our love of photography.

Just two years later, Adrian and I were married, and not long after that, we started our photography company, Ziemkowski Visions, LLC, creating portraits as well as wedding photography (under the name The Wedding Couple).

I love getting to work with my husband and do something that is so special to the both of us. This "specialness" really carries over into our work. There is a piece of our hearts in every photograph that we take.
